What if the challenge of the future is not only reducing carbon, but reimagining how people participate in shaping the systems that govern our lives, whilst ensuring everyone’s needs are met within planetary boundaries?
Regions across the UK face an urgent challenge: to transition toward circular and regenerative economies without leaving communities behind.
Neighbourhoods are where people experience the economy in everyday life — through housing, food, transport, work, health, education, safety, community spaces and access to nature.
By starting at neighbourhood level, CFC can listen to people in the places they already are, understand what matters locally, and build Neighbourhood Doughnuts that reflect real lived experience rather than top-down assumptions.
Each Neighbourhood Doughnut reveal social needs, local pressures and opportunities for action at neighbourhood level.They become a practical picture of local needs, strengths and opportunities for action. Together, these Doughnuts can help neighbourhood managers, communities, partners and decision-makers see where support is needed, where local energy already exists, and where projects could make a meaningful difference.

Conversations. We meet people where they already are: coffee shops, workplaces, schools, youth centres, community spaces, park and online.
Workshops. We go deeper with communities to explore challenges and co-create local solutions.
Neighbourhood Doughnuts. We turn insight into visual maps of what matters locally.
Participatory Platform. People propose ideas, vote on priorities and shape local action.
Circular Missions. We invest in the ideas with the most local support to become real-world prototypes
Evidence into Action. We turn learning into evidence that informs policy, investment and future action.
WHAT IS DOUGHNUT ECONOMICS?
Developed by economist Kate Raworth, Doughnut Economics helps us rethink economies so everyone can meet their needs within planetary boundaries.
It shows where communities are falling short socially and where ecological limits are under pressure.The aim is a safe and just space for everyone.
THE PILOT: MERSEYSIDE
Testing the model where our story begins.
We are starting in Merseyside (LCR) because it is our home. It is where our relationships, knowledge and sense of responsibility already exist.
The two-year pilot across Merseyside will allow us to test and refine our model with communities, partners and local organisations.
Our ambition is national: to help communities across the UK build their own Doughnuts and lead the transition to regenerative economies in a fair, inclusive and just way.
